James HOOPER Obituary
James L. Hooper, M.D. passed away on March 24, 2016, after an illness. Dr. Hooper is survived by his wife, Martha Riches Hooper, sons Christopher (Melanie) and Alexander, daughter Jeannine (Tom) and granddaughters Jessica, Julia and Jacquelina. He was predeceased by a son, Douglas, in 1981 and a grandson, James Dunn in 2011. Dr. Hooper is a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned several medals, including the National Defense Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Parachute Badge and Combat Infantry Badge. Born on May 24, 1931, in Baltimore, Dr. Hooper was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph, Class of 1948. After enlisting in the Army in August, 1951, he volunteered for duty in Korea with 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, "The Rakkasans". After military service, he attended University of Maryland and earned a BS and MD degree in 1961 as well as an MPH from Johns Hopkins. Dr. Hooper practiced family medicine in Montgomery County for over 30 years as well as emergency and urgent care medicine until his retirement. An informal graveside gathering will take place at 10:30AM on Tuesday, March 29, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD. Chris'...l am very sorry to read about your Fathers passing..he was obviously a very brave man to be awarded all those medals.
No doubt he will have brought you and your peers up to a standard of life that is now forgotten...more's the pity!

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Hooper. I didn't know him and Mrs. Hooper that well or for very long. I met them as they would make their weekly visits to Panera Bread. Dr. Hooper was a very kind and wise man. I loved seeing them each week and making his favorite drink, frozen caramel light ice. You will truly be missed Dr. Hooper. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Hooper and the rest of the Hooper family. God bless.

I am so very sorry to hear about Dr. Hooper's passing. It was just a week or so before his passing that I had been thinking about one of our many trips to Bethany Beach. I think of all of you often. I am so sorry for your loss.

Hello I truly understand why you want heartfelt prayers. That is why I love the prayers of King David who poured out his heart to God when he was in distressed. Notice how he prayed to God at psalms 61:1-2 there is says, Hear O God, my cry for help. Do pay attention to my prayers. From the ends of the earth I will cry out to you. When my heart is in despair lead me onto a rock that is higher than I am. May the God of peace be with you all.
