I didn't get to see my Uncle Doug nearly as often as I would have liked, but he left such an imprint on me. He was a straight-shooter, but always with a loving awareness of how others felt. He had an incredibly generous spirit, which was demonstrated by a lifetime of giving to others. Although we lived on separate coasts, Uncle Doug was more than an uncle to me - he was someone I could always talk to, knowing I could completely be myself, and he not only made me feel loved for who I am, he made me feel respected for it. I loved him very much - I hope he knew it. I miss you, Uncle Doug...
