Agnes Moran Notice

On June 30, 2016 Agnes Mary Moran (nee Quinby) Devoted mother of Michael Quinby Moran, Mary Agnes Mayes and Joseph Jude Moran. Loving mother-in-law to Jeannie Phillips Moran and Michael Timmons Mayes, Cherished grandmother of Jamieson Moran, Michael Mayes, Amy Loomis and Nicole Moran. Beloved great grandmother to Natalia Moran, Madeline Loomis and Kendall Loomis and beloved granddaughter of Georgeanna Taylor (nee Harrison) and Thomas Taylor. Agnes (Peggy) was born on September 14, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland to Jeston J and Agnes (nee) Taylor Quinby. Her favorite memories were going to Tilghman's Island to visit her grandmother and eating fresh rockfish for breakfast. She loved books, museums and her family. Peggy's family helped settle Tilghman's Island and in her adult years she would visit the island to see the grave sites of her family and visit St. John's Chapel where her family worshipped. Peggy graduated from Mount Saint Agnes High School in 1945 and received her degree in Therapeutic Recreation in 1983. She worked at The Gundry Hospital for many years and loved helping people. Easter was her favorite holiday and every year Peggy would gather her family and have a wonderful Easter dinner. Peggy was always reading and loved to learn. She enjoyed all of Carl Sagan's books and her favorite poem was by Emily Dickinson "There Is No Frigate Like A Book". Peggy had the best sense of humor and a zest for life like no other. She loved her grandchildren passionately and and was always there for them, whether or not it was for their special occasions or just to be with them. Peggy's grandchildren knew that if Grandmom was coming to visit there was never going to be a dull moment. She loved to fly and would marvel over the earth and it's mysteries. At the end of her life Peggy fought a long, hard 14 year battle with Alzherimer's Disease. She was gallant to the end and tried her best to maintain whatever she could of herself and her dignity. A funeral mass will be be held on Sunday, August 7th, 11: 00 at St. John's Chapel, 5160 Black Walnut Point Road, Tilghman, Island, MD 21671 The family has expressed their wish that gestures of sympathy in lieu of flowers be made by charitable donations to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Fl.
