My mother and father both had many brothers and sisters. I love and cherish every one of my aunts and uncles, but my Aunt Alice was always special. I spent summers at her place on the creek (with Danny, who probably just barely remembers it) because my parents worked and I was a bit too young to care for myself. I learned to swim there and have wonderful memories of hanging out with her She was kind and generous and her house was always bustling with company as it was the gathering place for the family. Her door was always unlocked. I remember so many 4ths of July and those special years when the creek would freeze and ice skating happened with a bonfire on the edge. I also remember always getting a huge smile and a warm welcome from Aunt Alice. She had a huge capacity to love and that will be her legacy forever. When you love so deeply and are loved so deeply, you never really are gone, but remembered forever by the lives you have touched. Rest in Peace, Aunt Alice. If there is a wonderful place waiting for us after this life, I'm sure you're there and planning a party for everyone :)
