Anna Marie Hardy Notice

Anna M. Hardy, 61, Homemaker, quietly passed on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Catonsville Commons HealthCare Facility. It was her 61st birthday. She was the loving daughter of the late Fern L. Leech and Edward J. Leech of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband, John D. Hardy of Ellicott City and several cousins. She was predeceased by two older sisters, Carol A. Lubinsky in 2008 and Linda S. Leech in 2015. Born and raised in Johnstown, Anna graduated from the Forest Hills High School in 1973. She worked for 12 years at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore as an Administrative Secretary, supporting discharge planning. With her late sisters, Mrs. Hardy was an editor and designer of YOUCANCRAFT.COM, an on-line crafting reference and store. The site was launched in 2002 and was later complemented by a You Can Craft Newsletter. She loved to crotchet and to craft in plastic canvas, created various decorative jewelry, and enjoyed providing others with tips and tricks in crafting, and how to work in different crafting media. Anna had a quick wit, a feisty yet loving spirit, and a wonderful sense of humor. She made friends quickly. She enjoyed preparing traditional American "comfort food", as well as cooking more exotic dishes, and hosting for her family during holiday occasions. Anna was the loving "mama" of several beautiful rescued cats, but her first and favorite was AJ Katz, an American short hair - Maine Coon mix. She and her husband also rescued a golden retriever mix named Travis. Anna was an avid fan of the Baltimore Ravens. She enjoyed their games and she wore the jerseys of various players. The family will receive friends at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 3:00pm-4:30pm, with a Memorial Service at 4:30pm. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue organization such as Tails of Hope or Animal Advocates of Howard County.
