Charles Belt Notice

Charles Alvin Belt, 85, died Sunday, November 20, 2016 at his home in White Hall. He was the husband of the late Doris May (Swift) Belt. Viewings will be held from 6 to 9 pm Sunday, November 27 and from 10 to 11 am Monday, November 28 at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc. 24 N. Second St. New Freedom, PA. The funeral service will begin 11 am Monday at the Mortuary. Burial will follow at Jessop United Methodist Cemetery, Sparks with military rites by Parkton American Legion Post #256. Charles was born October 2, 1931 in Cockeysville. Charles was the son of the late Clarence A. and Sadie Marie (Livingston) Belt. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired from Baltimore County Police Dept. in 1978 after 20 years of service. He was a life time member of Parkton American Legion Post 256 and a member of New Freedom V.F.W. Post #7012. Charles is survived by a daughter, Gail D. Fissel; 2 sons, Bruce D. Belt and his wife Lisa and David D. Belt and his wife Laurie; 5 grandchildren, David Belt, Jr., Brian Belt, J. Scott Fissel, Erich M. Belt and Sadie Belt; 3 great grandchildren, Hannah Marie Belt, Austin David Belt and Colton Andrew Belt. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkton American Legion Post 256, 19520 York Rd. Parkton, MD 21120.
