A man of letters. A radical of the highest order. A partisan in the fight against injustice and a poet extraordinaire. Our lives took a different turn but you will always be remembered as a friend.
I wish we had, Dino.

In our 1971 Patterson yearbook, Dino wrote... "Let us meet one another at the Eiffel Tower June 14th, 1982 Eastern Standard time. O.K.?" I wish we had.
Thirty-some years later I found you on Facebook. I looked up Dino Pantazonis and only found Constantine.I took a chance and sent a message. It was YOU! I saved our messages. This is one that meant a lot.

you know, i think back on patterson quite a bit. what a bright group of students we were - seriously. i was never big on reunions, but i would love to see everyone again. i will make every effort to come to baltimore soon. thanks for contacting me, cyn, it really makes me happy.
We had many long, late night conversations during that time. I learned things I couldn't have imagined. I discovered that my long, lost Dino was a fighter, a survivor. He wasn't lost at all.
He shared this with me.

here's a poem that was published in baltimore last year in the loch raven review
small treasure
i wonder what she is thinking
who she is and what is her story
as she leans against the wall
with the stars above her head
what secrets does she carry within her pockets
that hide her hands like a small treasure
that warm her from the cold and dark
i would like to talk to her hands
to hear what they might say
and clasp them as if they were my own
Thank you, Dino.

Dean - there is a hole now. You're with me still, yet not in some clichéd sense, in my bones. From a distance you make me laugh as when we were boys. Nothing's changed but we are altered. A brother, an echo ...

we have written many poems together, on behalf, and against. this message is one of remorse and all possible love to those who will miss our friend, on behalf of Bromanoph (Arcanum Cafe):
Dear Constantine:
I miss you already.
If the wind is not blowing in your honour
and this is not a poem, call me a liar.
No words can replace yours.
Still,
I hear your voice,
dear friend.
Still,
I recite your words.

..Constantine's unique, memorable style will live on as he lives on within the hearts of they who experienced his magic even in brief encounters, on the internet--he and I had exchanged 'friendship' requests in Arcanum Cafe and I am happy to say we both accepted..a true, great
poet is Constantine..always in the present
tense for me..my condolences..>>spiros

I knew Dino from Patterson High. He was an intelligent and unique man. I regret so very much for not connecting with him on Facebook. From what I have read, he was a man of many accomplishments and talents and was loved, praised, and respected by many. My sincere sympathy and prayers go out to all his family and friends.

Dino and I met at Patterson. Years later we caught up with each other on Facebook. Many years had passed, but Dino's spirit and opinions remained much as I remembered. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family - especially his beautiful grandchildren. He loves you so.

condolences to all friends and relatives of Dino- the poetic community in Baltimore may not have recognized him- and he would b the first to say so- but only because, as Spinoza says:
the excellent is not only difficult but rare"
only geniuses recognize other geniuses
