1974 - 2015 Notice Condolences


Donald "Patch" Irving Aker, Jr. died on July 27, 2015 at the age of 40. Beloved son of Ruth and Donald Aker, Sr. He is survived by Uncles Rev. Artie Rose (Melody) and David Hoffman (Faye), Aunt Linda Lee Aker, cousins William Ernest Rose, Carol Lynn Rose and Hank Aker, and godchildren Brendan and Brianna DeLauder. He is also survived by the firehouse dog, Murphy. A graduate of Parkdale High school, he was a life member of Kentland VFD with continuous service since 1998, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, and served as Corporation President of the Kentland VFD Company 33 and 46 since 2008. He worked for Prince George's County Public Safety Communications for nearly 20 years, as a training supervisor for 11 of those years. He was an EFD Instructor for 8 years at the International Academy of Emergency Dispatchers. He was also a past member of West Lanham Hills VFD, Company 28, and a member of the Prince George's County Fire Department's "High School Cadet" program. Family will receive friends Sunday, August 2, 2015 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd. Bowie, MD 20715. The funeral procession will depart Evans Funeral Home at 10am Monday, August 3, 2015, and the funeral service will be held at 12 noon at the Knights of Columbus Boswell Hall, 6111 Columbian Way, Bowie, Maryland 20715. Repast to follow at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center or to the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department. Check memos should indicate that this gift is in memory of Donald I.
