Ednell Mae Mealy Notice

Ednell Mae Mealy, 88, a retired elementary school teacher for Baltimore and Howard County Public Schools, died on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson following complications of Alzheimer's disease. Born on May 28, 1927 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late H. O. Langrall, Sr. and Monnie Mae Langrall, who owned Langrall's Furniture Store in Salisbury, until they retired and H. O. Langrall, Jr. and his family took over the business. Mae graduated from Wicomico High School in Salisbury and then earned her bachelor's degree from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College. After she met her husband, the late Robert Richmond Mealy, they moved to Ellicott City where they lived for 30 years. Following retirement, Mae and Richmond relocated to the Eastern Shore where they had a beautiful waterfront home built in Piney Island, Bishopville and opened a floral shop outside of Ocean City. They enjoyed yearly vacations to Florida. Following the death of her husband, Mae moved to River Run and then Mallard Landing. After developing Alzheimer's disease, Mae relocated to Brightview May's Chapel Ridge in Timonium, MD so she could be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Mae was a member of the Salisbury Town and Country Garden Club and the Questers. Mae enjoyed playing golf, bridge and being with her family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, H. O. Langrall, Jr. Mae is survived by her daughter, Marcie M. Zink and her husband Carroll of Cockeysville; two grandchildren, Bradley Mason Zink of Baltimore and Heather Richmond Zink of Cockeysville; a nephew, Dean Langrall of Ocean City; a niece, Jane Robinson and her husband William of Salisbury and a sister-in-law, Charlotte Langrall of Salisbury. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Wicomico Memorial Park, Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the of Maryland. 1850 York Road Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
