Elizabeth "Libby" Anderson Notice


Elizabeth ("Libby") Marie Murphy Anderson, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2015. Libby was a resident at Brightview Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. She was born in Roanoke, VA on February 26th, 1922. She was preceded in her death by her father, Edward Burrell Murphy and her mother, Kizzie Elmedo Qusenberry Murphy. She was married to Charles Edward Anderson from 1946 to 1985. Libby is survived by her three children: Dr. Charles E. Anderson, Jr. (Gail); Dr. Timothy P. Anderson (Kathy); and Judith (Anderson) O'Neill (Jeff); two grandchildren-Marcia (Anderson) Burns and Tricia (Anderson) Merritt; and, three great-grandchildren-Zoee and Asher Burns, and Bryce Merritt. Libby was an active church member at the Middle River Baptist Church and the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bel Air, MD. She was President of the PTA at Glenmar Elementary School and Middle River Junior High School, both in Middle River, MD. She was an active volunteer at both Middle River Baptist Church and Oak Grove Baptist Church, as well as Franklin Square Hospital, the Harford County Sheriffs Office, Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and Avondell Senior Living Center. Libby was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School in Salem, VA. She also attended the National Business College, Roanoke, VA, Essex Community College and Harford Community College. She was an avid reader, painter, crafter and traveler. She traveled worldwide to China, India, Egypt, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Africa. She also traveled to 48 of our 50 United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. Libby will always be remembered for her kindness, compassion and strength of character. Friends may call at the Schimunek Funeral Home (610 W. MacPhail Rd; Bel Air, MD 21014) Tuesday, July 7th, 2 to 4 pm. A Celebration of her Life will be held immediately afterwards. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are suggested for the Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2106 Churchville Rd; Bel Air MD 21015
