Cockeysville, Maryland - - Virginia Elizabeth Ramey Evans, 85, of 300 International Circle, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Bonnie Blink Nursing Home, after a courageous battle with COPD. Born in Reedville, Virginia, she was the widow of the late Curvin J. Evans and the daughter of the late Robert Gordon Ramey and Katie Lane Mintz Ramey. She was retired from Baltimore Telephone Company, loved seafood, enjoyed reading and studying God's word and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a former active member of First United Methodist Church in Melbourne, Florida. Since 2006, Mrs. Evans was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Surviving are a son, Donald Curvin Evans and wife, Debbie of Fallston, Maryland; two daughters, Sharon Evans Story and husband, Victor of Gaffney and Connie Evans Scott and husband, Earl of Bel Air, Maryland; a brother, Robert Mintz Ramey and wife, Linda of Sandston, Virginia; a sister, Norma Ramey Coates of Florida; eight grandchildren, Thomas Kusterer and wife, Hope, Jeff Scott and wife, Joy, Beth Gibson and husband, John, Holly Childers and husband, Matt, Tyler Scott, Lauryn Evans, Allisyn Evans and Trevor Scott; seven great-grandchildren, Lauren Kusterer, Evan Kusterer, Ty Childers, Drew Childers, Georgia Gibson, Mack Gibson and Madison Story; a special niece, Sylvia Lemons; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Allen Ramey; and a sister, Gladys Elaine Lemons. A cryptside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Reverend Joel Sellers officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church, "Mission Task Force", 200 North Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC, 29340.
