Elizabeth Thomas Notice


Mrs. Elizabeth A. Thomas, born 13 June 1923, passed away 21 November 2015 After a long fight with a stroke that racked her body. Miss Betty as she was affectionaly known by two very capable aides, Mrs. Shaunte Golden and Mrs. Linda Samuel, that diligently watched over and cared for her in her fight. Miss Betty trained as a Registered Nurse in the class of 1941 at Mercy hospital. In her profession she had worked with many notable doctors before she was hired as an Industrial Nurse with Westinghouse for over 20 years. During her time with Westinghouse she was selected to set up the Medical Department for the Camp Atterbury Job Corp Program for Westinghouse. She worked there for two years before returning to Baltimore. While at Camp Atterbury, she married John F. Thomas. They were married for 48 years. Betty is survived by her husband , Mr. and Mrs. George Abendschoen, two nieces Mrs. Jacqueline Milani and Mrs. Mary Clare Gretz, three nephews, Michael, Andrew and Neil, she is also survived by a daughter Linda Alsbury and sons Joseph and Steven from a previous marriage to Mr. Thomas there are 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Father A. Leo Abendschoen. Friends may call at the LOUDON PARK FUNERAL HOME, 3620 Wilkens Ave. on Wednesday, November 25, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 27, at St. Mark's Catholic Church (Chapel) , 27 Melvin Ave., Catonsville. Entombment Loudon Park Cemetery.
