Flora Haase Notice

Flora Haase born 3/24/1925 passed away peacefully on January 28, 2016. She was the widow of Warren Haase, a bronze star veteran of WWII. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Cook and her son-in-law Charles Lockridge and her beloved Misty Mittens, Casper, and Shadow. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved dance, the arts, and the music of the depression era and was herself, an accomplished ballet dancer. Although she had only 1 natural child, she was a surrogate mother to numerous younger people who had lost their parents. She loved them dearly and they loved her as well. She worked for the Mercantile Safe Deposit and Trust Co. for 40 years and was in Personnel Services in the years prior to retirement. She loved her job and co-workers and helped her friends and neighbors obtain part-time or full time jobs. She loved helping others. After retirement she volunteered at the Baltimore City Visitors Center for 10 years. She loved the City and helping visitors find interesting things to do. She also loved animals and gave funds to shelter and rescue dogs and cats. Eleven years after her husband's death, she sold her home and built an apartment addition to her daughter and son-in-laws home in Jarrettsville, MD. From her small kitchen she prepared family dinners most nights and food for holiday parties and special celebrations. She loved shopping and going out for dinners, especially on Friday night and having lunch with friends. She enjoyed travel, cultural events, theater, and the Stevenson University lecture series. A terrible fall in December 2014.caused significant brain damage and she spent her last 5 months of life in Lorien,Belair where she received excellent, loving care. She expressed the wish for donations in her memory be sent to: Animal Rescue 2 Heritage Farm Dr, New Freedom PA 17349. At this time a private grave side ceremony is planned.
