Gladys Q. Shufelt Notice

Gladys Q. Shufelt of Stevensville, MD passed away on November 1, 2015 at her home with her children by her side. She was 82. Born on October 14, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Henry and Mildred Quatmann, she graduated Towson High School and Bard Avon Finishing School. She was a stay at home mother raising children while living in Maryland, Kentucky, Texas, and New Jersey. Gladys later worked in Annapolis for Refuse Removers as an administrative assistant and for the Anne Arundel County Finance Department in an accounts executive position. Gladys lived an exciting and fulfilling life traveling the world with her husband, Len. She participated in many activities and events that involved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most of all she enjoyed family visits to her waterfront home in Stevensville, her winter home in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and her cabin retreat in the mountains of Bruceton Mills, WV. Her positive outlook, generous spirit, and caring soul will be her legacy. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Nissen (Rick); son Keith Cockey (Lourdes); stepdaughter Teresa Lindell (Pierce); stepson Len Shufelt (Dianna); brothers Robert Quatmann (Kathryn); Gary Quatmann; sister Lillian Grier (John); many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She leaves to all a treasure of happy memories. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Len Shufelt; son Kirk Cockey; stepson Tony Shufelt; and brother Walter Quatmann. Visitations will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD, where a service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11am. Burial will follow in the Stevensville Cemetery.
