July 26, 1914 - July 23, 2015, age 100; Teacher, Volunteer Hilda Claudine Siemers passed away of renal failure in her apartment at St. Elizabeth's in Timonium, MD during the morning hours of July 23, 2015. The oldest of six children born to Leon J. Douglas and Pauline Campbell in Baltimore on July 26, 1914, she met her husband Paul M. Siemers while attending night school at Baltimore City College. Married on September 17, 1936, they were together for 54 years until his death on February 27, 1990. Mrs. Siemers was a kindergarten teacher at Havenwood Presbyterian Church in 1962 and continued until her retirement in 1982. She loved teaching and instilled the value of an education to all of her children and grandchildren--and several of them went on to be teachers as well. In 1995, Mrs. Siemers starting volunteering at St. Elizabeth's in the Goodbye Shop and helping deliver meals to the residents. She continued volunteering until she was 92. She is survived by her children, Paul M. Siemers of Hunt, TX, Claudia Siemers Kendall of Prescott, AZ, and Janet Siemers Bell of Timonium, MD, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mrs. Siemers was preceded in death by her grandparents, Katherine Buckingham Douglas, William L. and Annie (Geiselman) Campbell; her parents, her husband, and siblings, Lawrence, Ethel Neary, Dorothy (DOT) Campbell, Ralph, and Phillip. A memorial service will be held at Havenwood Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Havenwood Pre-School Center, 100 East Ridgley Road, Lutherville, MD 21093.
