Homa Rostami-Rabet Notice

Homa Rostami-Rabet of Towson, age 78, died Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Hospital. She is survived by her sister, Tahereh Rostami-Rabet of Iran, and her brother and his wife, Abbas Rostami-Rabet and Helga Rostami of Germany. She is also survived by her niece and husband, Haleh Maleki and Abbas Alahyari; her nieces Ghazaleh Maleki and Laleh Maleki; her nephew Boris Rostami; and three grandnephews, Ryan, Armin, and Julien. Homa was born on April 1, 1937 in the town of Rasht in southern Iran. She received her nursing degree in Iran and later studied hospital administration in London. She came to the United States, and ultimately to Towson, in the early 1970's where she began her career as an operating room nurse at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. She had a successful and fulfilling career at GBMC until her retirement in 2002. She continued to work at GBMC on a part time basis for several years after retirement. Homa's job was her passion. She loved medicine, she loved her colleagues, but her greatest love and advocacy was for her patients. Homa's personal life was as rich as her professional life. She had dear friends with whom she shared many interests - theater, art, opera, literature, travel, sports, and politics. Homa taught us by example how to be kind, loving, encouraging, helping, and supportive. She lives always in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9,2016 at 11:00AM in the chapel of the Church of the Redeemer, 5603 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21210. A luncheon with follow in the parish hall.
