Leroy G. Carter Jr. Notice

Leroy G. Carter Jr., age 91, of Washington Township, NJ was reunited with his beloved wife Marjorie on June 22, 2015. Leroy's lifetime efforts to enlighten minds extend all through MD and leave a legacy of commitment, compassion, and care on many hearts throughout the region. Leroy was raised in Hancock, MD by his adoring parents Leroy Sr. and H. Pauline, graduated from Western MD College, and proudly served as SSgt to the 8th Armored Div. of the US Army during World War II. Upon returning home, he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie, and dedicated his life and career to education. He earned a Master's in Education and would later become VP of S. Hagerstown High, open Andover Sr. High as Principal where he also was dedicated as namesake of their football field, and later opened Lindale Jr. High, and Old Mill Sr. High. Retirement offered Leroy new adventures with a growing family full of love, laughter, road trips in his truck 'Little Hoss', and vacations all over the United States. He was also a dedicated MD sports fan cheering on the Colts for a time, Ravens, and Orioles, as well as the best Friday Night Fight Boxers. Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Marjorie C. (neé Carryer); Devoted father of Deborah C. Issa (Ali H.), and Wendy C. Silliman (Steve); Treasured grandfather of Katia I. Etherington (Chris), Jeffrey H.C. Issa (Kate), and Christopher A. Issa (Lisa); Cherished great grandfather of Carter, Piper, and Everly; Dear brother to the late Wanda C. Kirkham; Adored uncle to Connie Kupchunos (Richard), Cathy Lennon (Mark), and John C. Kirkham (Melissa). Farewell Ceremony Viewing Friday 6:00 - 8:00 PM at McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Rd. Washington Twp. (Sewell), NJ 08080 and Saturday 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Gary L.
