Lucille Ann Topping Notice

Lucille Ann (Lucy) Topping, 71, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at her home in the Cedarcroft neighborhood of Baltimore, MD. She was born in Boston, MA and was the daughter of the late Nunzio and Josephine (D'Amico) Masciulli. She was the loving wife of Joseph J. Topping. Lucy was a graduate of the Boston school system, a graduate of Burdett College, and attended Towson University, with concentrations in art history and early child education. She taught at the Govans Presbyterian Nursery School. Later, she worked as an account representative at CareFirst/Blue Cross Blue Shield for more than twenty years, retiring in 2011. Surviving her are daughter Jennifer Topping and her husband Leif Mobley of Rodgers Forge; son David Topping and his wife, Jennifer Elin Topping of Gothenburg, Sweden; daughter-in-law Vanessa Liu Topping of Mount Washington; sister Antoinette (Norma) Doolen of Peabody, MA; brother Joseph L. Masciulli of Punta Gorda, Fl, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lucy was the loving and doting grandmother (Grammy) of William McCahan Topping and Olivia Elin Topping. She was predeceased by sister Nancy Cayon; brother John Pedoto; son Jeffrey Topping. Lucy loved to travel, visiting Paris, Rome, Copenhagen, London, Stockholm, and Beijing, as well as numerous locations throughout the United States and Canada. She was an avid reader, enjoyed art and museums. Most of all she treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. Lucy was a past member of the Cedarcroft neighborhood board and a longtime member of the Trinity House Camp board, an association that provided opportunity for underprivileged children to attend summer camp in New Hampshire. In short, Lucy had far too many interests to possibly summarize here. Family and friends will honor Lucy's life at the Mitchell-Wiedefeld Funeral Home, 6500 York Road, Towson on Monday, May 23, 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral liturgy will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will take place following the mass at St. Mary's of the Assumption Cemetery, Homeland Ave., Baltimore, MD. All are invited to a reception at the family home following the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Pius X Elementary School, Montessori Program, 6428 York Road, Baltimore, MD.
