Mary (Connie) Constance Colbert Wehland died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was born May 6, 1932 in the historic district of Ellicott City, Maryland. Her family owned businesses in old Ellicott City for many years. She was educated at St. Paul's in Ellicott City and the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1963 she married Granville (Sonny) Warren Wehland. The two were involved in state politics and generally having a good time wherever they went. Connie was a past President of the Howard County Historical Society and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as other hereditary organizations. Connie was known as a straight shooter. You always knew where you stood with her. The priest who attended her at the hospital before her death recognized her and said, "Look out God, here she comes". Connie will be remembered fondly for her Irish spirit. She is survived by her husband, Granville Warren Wehland, her daughter, Mrs. Mary Jeanne McCabe Wehland Coles of Union Bridge, MD, her son-in-law Mr. Charles McDonald Coles, Jr., her grandchildren Virginia Elizabeth Coles, Katherine Jeanne Coles, and Charles McDonald Coles, III. She is also survived by her son, Mr. Matthew Henry Colbert Wehland of Ellicott City, MD and her son-in-law, Mr. John Joseph Lynch. Funeral arrangements and services are as follows: Visitation will be held Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Slack Funeral Home, P.A., 3871 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday 10 a.m., at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 3755 St. Paul St., Ellicott City, MD 21043. Interment Private.
