Mary Laura Dunn Notice

Mary Laura Dunn, beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother, passed away in her home in Laurel, Maryland, on Friday, February 12, 2016. She was 73. Mary was born in September of 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland, the oldest daughter of Harry and Mary Redmiles. She was brought up in a loving, close-knit family of 9 where she took on her role as loving nurturer, taking care of her younger sisters and brother. During her teenage years, she attended Mount de Sales Academy in Catonsville, MD, where she met some of her closest friends who she still knew up to this very day. In 1964, she married Joseph Edward Dunn, Jr. and together they had 5 daughters: Laura, Julie, Susan, Karen and Patricia. Mary has five grandchildren, Meghan, Steven, Sydney, Owen and Keira, whom she loved dearly. Her grandchildren called her Mom-Mom, which is a true reflection of her active role in her grandchildren's lives. She was a loving and caring woman who was always there for her friends and family with a kind word, open arms and a radiant smile. Over the door inside her home hangs the sign, "Live Well. Love Much. Laugh Often.," which is the sentiment that was the mainstay of her being and is how each of us will remember her. She will be greatly missed. Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, children, grandchildren and siblings: Harriet Krotz, Kathy Scibelli, Harry Redmiles, Jr. Judy Kratz and Julie Sweeney. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Nancy Self and her husband William and her brother-in-law, James Krotz. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 20, 2016 at 10:30 with a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3315 Greencastle Road Burtonsville, MD. The Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Mary's name to the at Cancer.org.
