May Raila Obituary

RAILA , May Tripp On July 9th, 2010 May Tripp Raila, of Baltimore MD, age 85, daughter of Herman and Katherine Tripp, sister to Jean Taylor, wife of the late Martin Raila, mother to Paul, Brian and Wayne, grandmother to Travis, Hannah and Kelly, and aunt to many wonderful nieces and nephews. A graduate of Western High School, Peabody Conservatory and Johns Hopkins University, she served the community as a music teacher, flutist, church organist, director of voice and handbell choirs, leader of
chamber music ensembles, and as a bass player with the
Hopkins Symphony Orchestra for nearly 40 years. May was an avid explorer, hiker, camper, sailor, photographer, painter and
gardener. She was also a committed community activist, good neighbor and friend.
A public remembrance and celebration of her well-lived life will be scheduled later this summer. Memorial contributions in May's name can be made to: The Peabody Conservatory, 1 East Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, MD 21202, or telephone:
