1917 - 2016 Notice Condolences

On February 27, 2016, Miriam Reba Webb (nee Bailey), beloved wife of the late Alva Marvin Webb Sr. Loving daughter of the late Irwin Cornelius Bailey and Hattie Grace Bailey (nee Freed). She was born October 11, 1917 in Salladasburg, Pa, and was a Preacher's daughter. Mother of Richard T. Webb and his wife Charyl L. Dayton, and the late A. Marvin Webb, Jr. (deceased 2003). Grandmother of Christina L. Lepre and husband Dr. Scott Lepre, and Corbett D. Webb. Great-grandmother of Madelynne Lepre (6) and Owen Lepre (4). Also survived by several dozen nieces, nephews, cousins, once and twice removed. Miriam was the last of 6 brothers and sisters, and their spouses. Miriam and Marvin met when her father, Rev. I. C. Bailey was transferred in the early 1930's to the Gary Memorial EUB Church in Daniels (the town was washed away when Agnes flooded the Patapsco Riven in the 70's). When Rev. Bailey was relocated back to a Pennsylvania EUB charge, they maintained correspondence with occasional visits. Married in 1939 their honeymoon took them to the World's Fair in New York. Miriam had graduated from Ellicott City High School and became a certified beautician working in various locations until she set up a small shop in her home providing services to neighbors, friends and relatives in the greater Catonsville area. As retirement set in for both Miriam and Marvin, they enjoyed extensive destination trips around the States and beyond. She was active at Emanuel United Methodist Church in Catonsville teaching Sunday School and working for the Finance Committee, the Maryland Republican Club and various humanitarian organizations until her health limited her activities. Family will receive friends at Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Ave., Catonsville, MD 21228 on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm, where services will be held on Saturday at 10am. Interment Lorraine Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Maryland Masonic Home, 300 International Circle 21030 or Gilchrist Hospice Care, 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, 21031.
