Pauline Heacock Notice

Pauline Mary Heacock (nee Cavanagh) of Jacksonville, Maryland, passed from this life on February 6, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Lucy Cavanagh of Kent, England, and a brother, George, as well as her beloved husband, Joseph W. Heacock Jr., who passed on January 18, 2011. Mrs. Heacock was born in Kent, England, on June 29, 1938, and taken to a local orphanage in Gillingham, where she was raised by nuns of the Sisters of St. Joseph order, prior to adoption by the Cavanaghs. Pauline worked at St. Josephs's Hospital, Towson, MD for 37 years, mainly the 11pm-7am shift, which allowed her to be home for her four children during the days. After retirement, she and Joe travelled to antique car shows and she volunteered at the Jacksonville Senior Center. Her soft-spoken nature concealed a steely resolve and a generous heart, and her love for Mother England never faded. She is survived by her four children: Joseph Waltman Heacock of Fallston, Maryland; John Winston Heacock of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law Paula and Mark Dieste of Dagsboro, Delaware; and Jason Wayne Heacock of Jacksonville, Maryland; her three grandchildren: Lauren Elizabeth and her husband Corey Shank of Timonium, Maryland; Steven Lobo of Dagsboro, Delaware; and Jackson Mooney of Oregon. In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Heacock will be cremated, with the ashes to be dispersed at several locations that were dear to her. The family will hold a celebration of life in Maryland in May. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to or Trinity Episcopal Church in Long Green, Maryland.
