Pauline Thompson Notice


On February 26, 2016, Pauline Thompson (nee Riffle) died at her home in Towson of complications from lymphoma at age 91. She was the beloved wife of the late William H. Thompson for 32 years. Pauline was born in West Virginia on February 20, 1925 and moved to Baltimore in the early 1940s. She worked for the Westinghouse Defense Center (now Northrop Grumman) for 41 years, retiring in 1985 as Manager of the Telecommunications Dept. For the past eight years, she served as a volunteer at GBMC Hospital in the Oncology Dept, and as a volunteer at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson. She was a member and regular usher at Towson United Methodist Church. She is survived by her step-daughters Sarah Hendler (husband Byrl) and Claire Conklin (husband George), her grandchildren Gregory Hendler, Mitchell Hendler, Andrew Conklin and Courtney Conklin, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her step-daughter Lucille Wingate. Arrangements by Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc. Services are private with cremation interment at Druid Ridge Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Boumi Temple Transportation Fund, 5050 King Ave., Baltimore, MD 21237.
