On June 25, 2015, suddenly at his residence, Pierre Edgar Berry of the Marylander Apartments, Baltimore, MD. Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 29, 1922, he was the only child of the late Carl Berry and Georgette Deguin Berry-Patsis. Mr. Berry attended the Nicholas Senn High School in Chicago, graduating in 1941. With the United States entering war that year, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 with the U.S. 6th Army Headquarters in Military intelligence. During his service years, Mr. Berry continued his education at Wright Jr. College in Chicago, Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and University of Mexico, where he earned his B.A. degree, majoring in Anthropology, graduating in 1949. His graduate studies were completed with a Master's degree earned at the University of Michigan in 1950. He was an assistant in Museum Research at the Museum of Anthropology at the University of Michigan from 1948 to 1950. Other honors awarded, included the Fulbright Scholarship for study in France from 1950 to 1951 and the Brittingham Scholarship for study in France from 1953 to 1954. Mr. Berry was proud to be considered bi-lingual in French-English as a result of 11 years residence in France, a reading knowledge of German, and some knowledge of Spanish. He served fulltime with the Museum of Anthropology Library at the University of Michigan as Secretary-Librarian until the fall of 1957 when he moved over to the William L. Clements Library. Mr. Berry subsequently joined the Johns Hopkins University serving them in similar positions for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Library Association, North Carolina Library Association and the American Anthropological Association. Mr. Berry has no survivors. No services have been scheduled.
