On Friday, October 30, 2015, STANLEY MERVIN LOEWNER, 90, of Catonsville; beloved husband of the late dear, devoted, and beautiful Winnie Sapp Loewner. Winnie will always be remembered as such in Stan's soul in heaven. He is the father of Lorstan L. Loewner and Sally M. Smith; brother of Selma Pleet, and the late Sallye Krieger and Louis F. "Butch" Loewner; grandfather of Dayne L. Loewner, Laryn S. Rollhauser, Gregory Smith, Sarah Smith, and the late Paige E. Loewner; and great-grandfather of Eric D. Loewner and Amelia P. Rollhauser. Stan was born and raised in Walbrook, where he graduated from Forest Park High School. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army Air Force in the Philippines Islands, Corregidor Island, and the China, Burma, India Theaters. He was a member of the 8th and 13th Air Force, flying as a photographer gunner. After his stint in the service, he went to the American Academy of Mortuary Science in New York. In 1948, after serving his apprenticeship at William J. Tickner and Sons Funeral Home and passing his Maryland State Funeral Directors and Embalmers examination, he received his license to practice the profession he spent his working years in. He was a member of the King David's Masonic Lodge #68, being worshipful Master and longtime Treasurer. In addition, he was a member of the Joseph T. Ambrose Memorial Court, Order of the Amaranth, being Royal Patron 5 times. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Hebrew Friendship Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at eckhardtfuneralchapel.com.
