George B. Vaeth, 85, of Ellicott City, MD passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014. George is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Martha Vaeth (nee Hadad); cherished children, Terry Milesky and Michael C. Vaeth (Lisa); loving grandchildren, Nicky Reed (Joe), Michael C. Vaeth, II and Laura Vaeth; dear brother, John Joseph Vaeth, Jr. (Gisela) and many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Pauline Vaeth (nee Truffer) and John Joseph Vaeth, Sr. George was born April 8, 1928 in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Mt. St. Joseph High School and attended college in Baltimore. He was a retired paint executive, formerly owning the Lasting Paint Co. when paint making was a thriving Baltimore industry. Baltimore at one time was the second largest paint producing city in the US. A well known name in the paint industry, George was a prime contributor as well as recognized for his contributions to the paint industry at the "Paint the Town" exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Industry on Key Highway, the South Baltimore thoroughfare that was home to several paint makers of days past. He was also a member of the Baltimore based social club, Old Friends Paint Club, as a way to stay connected with retired colleagues. He traveled extensively with family and friends during his lifetime. In retirement, his greatest joy was time spent with his family. The family will receive friends at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City on Friday, 3-5pm, with a Memorial Service at 5pm. Interment is private.
