LEMLEY , Edith Agnes (Keenan) On Thursday, June 10, of Berryville, Virginia, Edith Agnes Lemley, age 82, went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Everett Lee Lemley, Jr. Loving mother of Rich (Sherry), Ron (Sandy), Theresa (Terence), Michael (Betty) and John (Shelly); beloved grandmother of James (Lauren), Christina and Erik Lemley; Jason and Sean Lemley; Micaela and Justin Carrasco; Matthew and Joseph Paul (JP) Lemley; and Bryan and Jacob Lemley, and one great-grandchild, Brooks Everett Lemley. She is also survived by her brother, Vincent Keenan (Bernadette); a brother-in-law, Bud Johnson; sister-in-law, Mary Lemley; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Jane Lemley and numerous nieces and nephews; daughter of the late James and Agnes Keenan; sister of the late James Keenan, Ellen Argentino, Thomas Keenan, Mary Soukup, Francis Keenan, Catherine Satti, William Keenan, Theresa Foley, and Agnes Johnson. Edith was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where she met and married Everett in 1949. She raised her family and supported her husband's federal career, living in Baltimore, Atlanta, Charlottesville, and Fairfax, before retiring to Berryville. She was a warm and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was passionate about love of family, her Irish heritage, Baltimore, music, crabcakes and horses. Edith and Everett raised thoroughbreds and were the owners of Chilly Hollow Stables in Berryville until retiring several years ago. Edith had a wonderful sense of humor, an Irish twinkle in her eyes, and a genuine zest of life. She was courageous in battling several long illnesses and fought hard to the end. No words can express how deeply Edith was loved and how she will be missed. She was a gentle, caring, loving woman with a beautiful smile and a kind word for everyone she touched. We'll miss you, Hon!
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 14, at Saint Bridget of Ireland Catholic Church at 10:30 AM, where a mass of Christian burial will be offered. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Berryville, VA. Family will receive friends from 3-5 PM. and 7-9 PM, Sunday evening at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville, VA. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Blue Ridge Hospice team and ask that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.
