Sympathy to the entire Tyler family, and to the Orioles, for your loss. Ernie was a great friend and help to me when I attended Fantasy Camp. I will treasure the photo of the two of us at Memorial Stadium. He will be sorely missed by many!

I'm so sorry to learn of Ernie's death. For the 14 years I was at the Orioles, I had the privilege of knowing this wonderful person. He was always a gentleman and a "Gentle Man". May he rest in peace and I pray that God gives his family comfort in this sad time.

Like many people that mourn the loss of Ernie Tyler, we never had the pleasure of meeting him. But we have seen Ernie on a regular basis- at every Oriole game we have attended or watched on TV for decades. Cal was right. Ernie Tyler is the true iron man- not only of Baseball, but of Life. It is his work ethic, dedication, and his mantra of "doing what you do well, and doing well what you do and love" that is an inspiration to all of us- young and old alike. He never appeared bored with what may seem to others as a repitious job. Thank you Mrs. Tyler for letting your husband go out and play with the boys everyday. He will be missed. He and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers everday for many years to come. We will start a new streak of consecutive days the people of Baltimore and all over the State will pray for the Tylers- to say Thank You Ernie!

Mr Tyler was a good friend of my Dad, Howard, who passed away over 33 years ago. I remember Mr Tyler from those days when I worked at the Stadium ( was it 68? or 69?) when Phillip and James ( no one knew which was ever which) were batboys for the visiting team. Mr. Tyler was and will forever be an ICON to the Orioles and a true measure of what it means to be a Baltimoreon and an Oriole fan.
My consolences to his family , friends, and the team.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Ernie. I did however meet and work with his son's Jim and Fred for several years. I was explained the legacy of the Tyler family with the Orioles and looked at many pictures. My prayers go out to the Tyler family in their time of sympathy. God Bless. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Ernie while working at the ballpark and also in Sarasota last year at Spring Training. A wonderful man, he is truly an Oriole icon. He will be missed by all, especially his family. God bless you and rest in peace!

I never had the chance to meet Ernie but I felt like I knew him because he was always there, every Oriole game that I attended at both Memorial Stadium and Camden Yards. He always performed his job with the zest & energy of a teenager and will be missed by all the players, umpires and mostly by his family. I expect to see him again one day and he will still be supplying the umpire with a handfull of balls. Rest in peace Ernie, you have had a wonderful life !
