Elizabeth A. HOFFMANN Notice
HOFFMANN , Elizabeth A. On April 2, 2013, Elizabeth A. "Lise" Hoffmann , at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson, MD. Beloved sister of the late Margaret H. McIntyre; dear aunt of Tara E. McIntyre and her partner Michael C. Klapp, Erin M. Vincent and her husband Robert D. Vincent, and Francis X. McIntyre, Jr., and his wife M. Anastasia MacDonald; dear great-aunt of Flynn P. Harne, Maggie M. Klapp, Amanda L. and Taylor M. Vincent. Lise was an amazing woman who lived a storied and colorful life, most of it spent in service to others as a registered nurse and in contemplative religious life. She attended the College of New Rochelle in NY (BS, biology), Kings County Hospital Center, Brooklyn, NY (RN), Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA (post-grad, philosophy), and Goucher College in Towson, obtaining certification from the latter in programming mainframe computers, which she performed through the late 1980's at Martin Marietta. She later returned to nursing, retiring in 1999. She then volunteered at the Baltimore County Public Library, eventually joining the staff at the Loch Raven Branch as an employee, retiring again in 2010 due to illness. She traveled the world. She defined the word relentless. She was curious and brave and staunchly independent. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Service and interment private. A Memorial Celebration of Lise's life will be held at a later date. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, 3741 Commerce Drive, Suite 309, Baltimore MD 21227. Arrangements by the family-owned MITCHELL-WIEDEFELD FUNERAL HOME, INC.
