Gladys C. Batts

BATTS , Gladys C. o n April 24, 2013 , Gladys C. (Bathon) Batts , age 81, formerly of Baltimore, passed away at her home with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Ralph Batts; together they shared over 64 years of marriage. Gladys was born in Baltimore, MD on August 25, 1931 and was one of eight children of the late Edward Bathon and Josephine (Sanders) Bathon. She graduated from The Catholic High School of Baltimore class of 1949. She was a homemaker all of her life and cherished the time she spent with her family. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Grove. In addition to her husband Ralph, she is survived by her son David Batts and wife Barbara of Baltimore MD, Daniel Batts and wife Denise of Mosheim TN, Evan Batts and wife Susan of New Oxford, PA; her daughters Carolyn Shifflett of Spring Grove, Sharon Forney and husband Edward of Glen Rock, Donna Ingersoll of Fredericksburg, VA and Sheila Shifflett and husband Robert of Spring Grove. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation a memorial mass in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 2 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 146 N. Main St., Spring Grove with Fr. Paul Schenck officiating. Interment will be held privately by the family. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC of Spring Grove.
