MORROW JR. , Richard Harold On August 17, 2013 Richard Harold Morrow, Jr ., MD, MPH, died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family. His brillance, grace, humor, generosity, integrity, and strong belief in the goodness of mankind inspired his family, friends, and hundreds of public health students across the globe. Dr. Morrow, a professor in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public since 1991, was a pioneer in the field of International Public Health. Prior to Hopkins, he established public health programs in Africa; taught at Harvard School of Public Health; and directed a tropical disease program at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. He authored several books and hundreds of articles on a wide range of public health topics. Richard Morrow was a wonderful husband (having just celebrated his 54th anniversary with his wife Helga), father, father-in-law, and grandfather.
A private memorial service for him will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Richard H. Morrow Scholarship Fund in Health Systems can be made in his name to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
