Dennis J. Szymaszek Notice

SZYMASZEK , Dennis J. On August 23, 2013, Dennis J. Szymaszek of Lutherville died. He was born on August 27, 1941 to Martin and Elizabeth Szymaszek. He worked for PEMCO Corporation from 1959 until his retirement in 2002 as Director of Materials and Logistics, North American Operations. On October 20, 1978 he married Julie Ann Kardos, who was the love of his life for 35 years. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife Julie. Also surviving are his son Gregory Szymaszek, his daughter-in-law Leslie, and mother-in-law Julia Kardos. Dennis was a dear brother-in-law to Peggy and Kenneth Weininger, Theresa McAdams, and Steven Kardos. Uncle to Bridget, Kenneth, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Patrick, Ian, and Delaney. Former spouse to Barbara Schuler. A creative spirit and master woodworker, Dennis spent many hours in his woodshop designing and building furniture for his home and the homes of his friends and family. He had a lifelong appreciation of the beauty and engineering of sports cars, with a special love for Ferraris. And in May of 2013, Dennis took a dream trip to the Ferrari Factory in Italy for a private tour. Over the years, he was an avid tennis player and skier. He was once fittingly described as "a real Rennaissance man." Dennis and his wife Julie had a life and marriage that will always be an example of love, devotion, and friendship. He often shared with a smile that the first thing he noticed about her was her "gorgeous long blond hair." And over the years, Dennis and his beloved, "Jul," enjoyed their careers, their home, traveling-especially to their favorite island Bermuda, and spending time with family and friends. Always up for a last-minute margarita or a good conversation, Dennis always made time for family and friends.
Everyone he loved will be celebrating his life with a gathering of friends on Thursday, August 29, from 4-8 pm and a memorial service on Friday, August 30, at 10:30 am; both held at Ruck Funeral Home on York Road in Towson. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Southern York County District Foundation, Szymaszek Scholarship, P.O. Box 128, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
