Richard Thomas "Dick" Davis Notice

Richard "Dick" Thomas Davis, ANDERSON, SC, age 85, husband of Marge Davis, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Baltimore, MD, on August 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Gerald Davis and the late Miriam P. Mosberg. He was a graduate of Catonsville High School in MD, attended the University of Maryland and Northwestern University School of Criminology, and was a graduate from the Maryland Institute of Art. He was a proud Marine Corp Veteran, having served in World War II in the infantry as well as a cartoonist for the Marine Corp newspaper. Mr. Davis was a retired Detective Lieutenant with the Baltimore County Police Department and served in a number of roles including, Director of Police Community Relations, Homicide and as a scuba diver for rescue and recovery missions. Mr. Davis was one of the highest decorated police officers in Baltimore County. He was a member of the Marine Corp League of Anderson, Anderson Senior Follies, Cobb's Glenn Golf Club, First Presbyterian Church, and the ROMEO'S, a senior lunch group. In addition to his wife, Marge, he is survived by his three daughters: Pam (John) Cambardella of Church Hill, MD, Robin (Jerry) Flynn of Duncan, SC and Karen (Joe) Marshall of Centreville, VA; six grandchildren: Erin Flynn Wilson, Paul Cambardella, Collin Flynn, Claire Cambardella, Ben Marshall and Kate Marshall; three great-grandchildren: Anna Davis Wilson, Flynn Wilson, and Cameron Flynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Richard Todd Davis and his brother, Gerald Todd Davis.

The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Dr. Dennis R. Tedder officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leukemia Society of America, Donor Services, P.O.
