Joseph Rubin Obituary
Joseph Rubin 97 of Naples, Florida passed away August 14, 2014. He was born in La Platta, Maryland on January 1, 1917 and married Annette Rubin on April 18, 1943. Joseph owned a tavern in Baltimore, Maryland for more than 40 years. He was a member of many civic organizations including the Temple Shalom Men's Club, Forum Club, and Town Hall. Joseph had a passion for fishing and boating and made many wonderful memories on the water. He is survived by his daughter Phyllis Rubin Gelman and son-in-law Michael H. Gelman of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nephew Lanny Rubin and wife Betty Rubin of Ponce Inlet, Florida. Joseph was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Annette Rubin of Naples, Florida, daughter Arlene Ravan of Brooklyn, New York, parents Anna and Meyer Rubin of Baltimore, Maryland, brothers Milton, Morris, Charlie and Sam Rubin of Baltimore, Maryland. A graveside service will be held Tuesday August 19, 2014 11:00 am at Naples Memorial Gardens 525 111th Ave N Naples FL 34108

Dear Phyllis, It is so sad hearing the words about the loss of your Dear Dad, Joe. Our hearts go out to you. Although it was not unexpected, still it is never easy to say "good-bye" to those we love, especaily a parent, and for girls, who are often "Daddies Girl", it can be espcially heart-breaking. Andy and I had been friends with Joe and Annette since 1972 or 73. And not just "friends" but Good Friends. They were so much fun and so thoughtful, funny, fun, generous and all round "good people". We miss them so much; and as you can imagine, Andy is espcially sad to have lost one of his very best friends, long time friends. Phyllis, it has been a joy to get acquainted with you and having contact by phone. I know your parents want you to be happy. Their love will always remain in your heart. Andy and Joe spent many days out on the boat and we also spent time on their boat and, later, our boat. Just so much to miss about losing Joe and Annette. Lanny and Betty, my parents Dave and Mary Grossman were friends with your Uncle Joe and Aunt Annette way back when. Lanny, I did not realize that you were a nephew when we were neighbors in Copper Hill. We live in Naples, FL now, full time since 2008, and read the obituary in the Naples Daily News.
