Mrs. Betty "Jane" Duke Segars, 81, of Jefferson died Sunday, March 17, 2013.
Mrs. Segars was born in Jefferson, a daughter of the late Dave and Lollie Lyle Duke. She was a graduate of Martin Institute in Jefferson. After graduation, she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations in Washington D.C. She married Charles Segars from Arcade and they spent the next 30 years as a military couple. They retired from military service and returned to Jefferson where Mrs. Segars was the owner of Jane's Flower Shop in the Arcade area of Jackson County. She was a member of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church, the Women's Club of Jefferson, and the Jefferson Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Col. Charles Henry Segars; her brothers, Nay, David, and Bill; and sisters, Lillian, Louise and Mildred.
Survivors include: her daughter and son in law, Sandi and Ronnie Williamson; son and daughter in law, John Segars and Donna Gessell; brother and sister in law, Jack and Dot Duke; grandchildren, Tyler Williamson and Amanda Frye.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at Jefferson First United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Laskey and Minster Tom Plank officiating. Interment will follow at Redstone Methodist Church. Those honored as pallbearers will be Doug Duke, Dave Duke, Gary McCroskey, Tony Duke, Billy Duke and Andy Garrison. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home on Tuesday March 19 from 6 – 8 p.m.
