James Taylor Sr.

James (Jimmy) Carey Taylor, Sr., passed away peacefully on June 30, 2013 at North Fulton Hospital.

Born July 30, 1928, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, to Edna Carey Taylor and Henry C. Taylor. Jimmy was very active in the various Catholic Churches he attended throughout his life, most recently St. Benedict Catholic Church in John's Creek, where his long life of service continued for over twenty years. He was also a lifetime member of the Atlanta Athletic Club. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Kane Taylor.

He is survived by: his six children, James Carey Taylor, Jr., Jean Marie Taylor-Worford, Gilbert Taylor, Theresa Taylor Southmayd, Gabrielle Taylor Martz, and Timothy Taylor; and his ten grandchildren, Anne Marie Taylor Wade, Anna Carey Taylor, Ashley Martz, James Taylor, Kellli Martz, Jonathan Taylor, Jarrod Martz, Cameron Worford, Emily Taylor, and Lenise Taylor. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Moore; and sisters-in-law, Jane Taylor and Janet Burchfield.

Viewing will take place at Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth on Tuesday, July 2 from 5 – 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at St. Benedict Church on Wednesday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m. with the burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the St. Vincent de Paul St. Benedict Catholic Church.
