Young Y.D. Maddox Jr.

Mr. Young (Y.D.) Maddox, Jr., 77, of Jefferson and Marietta (since January 2006) left this life for his heavenly home on October 31, 2012.

He was born in Jefferson on January 4, 1935 to the late Y.D. Sr. and Eloise Moseley Maddox. Y.D. professed his faith in Jesus Christ at a young age. He was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he served in various leadership roles. A mission trip to Jamaica was a very rewarding experience for him. Following graduation from the University of Georgia, he continued and further developed his father's meat processing business. In later years, he worked until retirement as a meat inspector for the State of Georgia.

Surviving are: two sisters, Reid Coons (Frank) of Marietta; Clara Segars of Knoxville, TN; and five children, Beth Schuler (Bob) of Roswell, John Maddox (Suzette) of Pell City, AL, Michael Maddox (Teresa) of Sherrills Ford, N.C, Elizabeth Mitchell of Douglasville, David Maddox (Ruth), Woodstock; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Marietta Funeral Home, 915 Piedmont Road, Marietta, GA 30066 (770-422-1234). The funeral service will be held at Evans Funeral Home, 1350 Winder Hwy, Jefferson, GA at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 3 with Rev. Glenn Ray of Marietta officiating.
The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:30pm until the service time. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 4659 Brockton Road, Jefferson, GA 30549 or , Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
