Alleen T. Churchill, 94, of Winder passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She had recently been residing at Park Place Nursing Facility.
Born in Monaca, Pennsylvania she graduated from Coraopolis High School and attended Grove City College for two years. In 1939 she married Fred C. Churchill, who preceded her in death in 2004 after 63 years of marriage.
Mrs Churchill was employed by Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh for over 18 years. After retirement, to be close to family members, the Churchills relocated to Winder, which they considered to be on of their better decisions. Welcomed by the community they enjoyed life in Winder, making many friends and participating in local activities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Garden Club and the Sunbury Chapter of DAR, which in 2009 honored her 70 years of DAR membership.
She is survived by: her son, Dr. Frederick C. Churchill II (Peggy); daughter, Cheryl Reeve (James); grandchildren, Celeste Banks (Kenneth) and Christopher Churchill (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Zakk, Trey and Ashlee Banks; sister-in-law, Sarah Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12 at Smith Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Winder with Rev. Brock Burnett officiating Interment will follow at Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
