James Arthur Means, age 79, died Friday, February 15, 2013.
Born in Cordele to the late Willie C. and the late Claudie Brown Means. He served in the US Army for two years and the Reserves for six years. His teaching career began in 1960 at Glenwood High School. He served as an educator for the Winder Barrow School system until the late 1980's. After retiring, he continued his teaching career at Gwinnett Vocational until 1992. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Daniel Means and brothers, Bobby Curtis Means and Sergeant Vernon Means.
Survivors include: his brothers, Augusta (Cornelia) Means, and Carl Means; sisters, Dorothy (Eugene) Thomas, Willie Mae Dexter, and Audrey Cantrell; brother-in-law, Harold Daniel; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Harris and Marolyn Loundy; uncles, Willie J. Henley and Ruben Henley; aunts, Annie Ruth Wornum and Inez Mickins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 21 at 11 a.m. at Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel with Pastor Antwion Yowe officiating. Interment was in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
