Virginia C. Bentley, age 92, of Winder, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013.
Before moving to Winder, Mrs. Bentley was a president of the Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post #222 and worked in the VA Hospital in Thomasville. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winder where she enjoyed playing the piano. She was a para-pro at Winder Barrow Elementary School, which later became Kennedy Elementary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Harry Bentley; grandson, Shane Alen Kokaly; parents, John Oscar and Eunice Archie Horne Bentley; her brother, Keith and John "Cotton" Culpepper.
Survivors include: her sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Elaine Bentley of Tuscan, AZ, David Bentley of Winder; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Gail and Bill Kokalyl of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jeff and Tim Bentley, Travis Wilder, Valerie and Phillip Kokaly; great grandchildren, Donivan, Jordan, Carson and Kendall Kokaly, Brandon and Oliver Bentley; niece, Eunice Vining; and nephews, Charles and Ernie Culpepper.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11 at Smith Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Pastor John Talley and Pastor Mike Walston officiating. The burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens.
