Celebration of life services for Alice Thomas Wallace will be Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Reverend Dalyn Helbling officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wallace, a resident of Bastrop, was born July 18, 1927 in Oak Grove, Louisiana and she passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Lagniappe Health Care. Mrs. Wallace was a member of the First Church of God where she served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and was active in all church activities. She retired from the Morehouse Parish Food Stamp Office. For many years she worked for Ditto Apparel and owned and operated Van Avenue Grocery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clayton Wallace, daughter, Phyllis Wallace Gunter, grandson, Jeremy Ross Wallace, parents, Benjamin Thomas and Barbara Whitney Thomas, and sisters, Mary Dell Jones, Annie Carroll, and Verna Sanders.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by her children, Linda Devan and her husband, James of Shreveport, Louisiana, Tommy Wallace and his wife, Bonnie of Welch, Louisiana, Karen Vail and her husband, Mack of Bastrop, Paula Easom and her husband, William of Bastrop, a brother, Mack Thomas of Oak Grove, a sister, Gloria "Dodie" Taylor of West Monroe, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, a special sister-in-law, Polly Teach, and extra special nieces, Wanda Hill and Maxine Tyson.
Serving as pallbearers are Matthew Vail, David Wallace, Josh Wallace, Sean Bryan, Scott Auer, and David Collins.
Honorary pallbearers are Dean Freeman, Doyle Hindmon, Wandall Coody, and Dr. Clint Netherland.
Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
