Funeral services for Mrs. Audrey Mae Rutledge Long will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Reverend Doug Edwards will officiate the services. Interment and committal will be at Memorial Park Cemetery of Bastrop under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 beginning at noon until time for services at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
Audrey Mae Long was born June 20, 1924 in Epps and she passed away on July 28, 2014 at Cherry Ridge Guest Care in Bastrop. Mrs. Long was a member of the Lake Lilly Baptist Church in Jonesville and a former longtime member of the Bonita Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and former resident of Bonita. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to gospel music and playing bingo.
Mrs. Long is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dwight Long; her parents, Sam Rutledge and Cynthia Jane Aaron Rutledge; three brothers, Aaron David Rutledge, Sam Wesley Rutledge, Marion Earl Rutledge; two sisters, Frances Ree Mathis and Maudell Carr Coleman; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Dew Long.
She is survived by her three sons, Jimmy Long and his wife, Elaine of Jonesboro, Randy Long and his wife, Lisa of Rayville, and Ronald Long and his wife, Deborah of Bastrop. Mrs. Long is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kim Lord, Jacci Mooney, Andy Long, Jamie Coley, Chris Long, Carl Long, and Casey Tumlison; and eight great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Andy Long, Chris Long, and Carl Long; great-grandson, Taylor Long; Mark Coley, Mark Mooney and James Lord.
Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Bonita Baptist Church and Dr. Carter Cox.
The family wishes to extend a special "thank-you" to Dr. Cox and the nurses and staff of Cherry Ridge Guest Care for the care shared with Mrs. Long.
