Funeral services for Betty Allene Sloan will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011, in the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home with the Reverends Marty Kutz and Allen Eppinette officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilmot Cemetery in Wilmot, Ark., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Betty Allene Morgan Sloan was born May 15, 1942 in Wilmot, Arkansas to the late Charlie Ed Morgan and Rosa Hall Morgan. She passed away peacefully at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family, on October 20, 2011 in Bastrop. Mrs. Sloan is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Clinton Sloan; a son-in-law, Robert Neal Brixey; brother, Charles Morgan; and a sister, Charlene Sammons.

Ms. Allene was a charter member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Bastrop where she served as a Sunday School teacher to both the youth and senior adults. She was active in all church activities and fundraisers. Ms. Allene loved the outdoors, especially fishing, along with cooking and canning vegetables from her garden.

Mrs. Sloan is survived by: Her husband of 51 years Bruce Sloan of Bastrop; her daughter, Linda Gail Sloan Brixey of Bastrop; daughter-in-law, Linda Darnell Sloan of Bastrop; six grandchildren, Gregory Sloan, Brittany M. Sloan, Lindsey Allene Atkins, Claude R. Mann, Jr., Heath A. Mann and Robert Shane Brixey; and a great-grandchild, Kameryn Alise Brixey.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 21, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
