Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Wyatt Brixey were held 10 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Reverend Allen Eppinette officiated the services. Interment followed at the Bartholomew Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.

The family received friends beginning at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, January 1, 2016 at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.

Betty Catherine Wyatt Brixey, a homemaker, was born November 24, 1936 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Robert Cecil Wyatt and Isa Jackson Wyatt. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home in Bastrop on December 31, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lindel "Simp" Brixey; a son, Robert Brixey; two brothers, Wilbur Wyatt and Luey Wyatt; and four sisters, Flora Goad, Virginia Ghent, Frances Choat, Ina Slaughter and Martha Mayo.

Mrs. Brixey is survived by her son, Mike Brixey and his wife, Elizabeth; daughter-in-law, Linda Brixey; three grandchildren, Whitney Oswalt and her husband, Daniel, Shane Brixey and his wife, Brandi, and Lindsey Atkins; three great-grandchildren, Kasen Oswalt, Kameryn Brixey, and Kylie Brixey. She is also survived by her two sisters, Carolyn Allen and Edna O'Kruhlick; special friend, Sherry Taylor; and a numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers were Bardell Bostick, Matt Rasmussen, Mike Hinton, Gary Hinton, Steve Mackey and Heath Eppinette.
Honorary pallbearers were Lee McCuin and Gene Mardis.

The family wishes to extend a special "thank-you" to the nurses and staff of Premier Hospice for the care and concern extended to Mrs. Brixey during her illness.
