Funeral services for Mr. Carl Anthony Armstrong of Bastrop will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Bro. Joey Kennedy will officiate the services. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Carl Anthony Armstrong was born July 18, 1933 in Plaquemines Parish to the late Louis V. Armstrong and Helen Buck Armstrong. He passed away October 6, 2014 at Morehouse General Hospital following an extended illness. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Isabell Baker.
Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Greenacres Baptist Church in Bastrop and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former delivery driver for Green Brothers Dairy and retired from Spillers Oil Company.
Mr. Carl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Anna Bagby Armstrong of Bastrop; two sons, Ronald Armstrong and Curtis Armstrong, both of Bastrop; and a daughter, Carlene Crymes of Collinston. He is also survived by a brother, Lewis C. Armstrong; a sister, Geraldine Theiages; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Thomas Wayne Philley, Douglas Philley, Bobby Jennings, Bobby Ray Powell, Dewayne Bagby, Carlus Bagby, Harold Flowers and John McIntyre.
Honorary pallbearers are Austin Williams, Jimmy May and Anthony Crymes.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
