Funeral services for Charles Wilson, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Rev. David Sistrunk officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.

Charles D. Wilson Sr. was born January 30, 1937 in Bastrop to the union of Samuel Dennis Wilson and Minnie Octavia Jolly Wilson. He died Monday May 3, 2010 at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Peters and three sisters, Lillian Peters, Polly Blackman and Annie Boyd.

Mr. Wilson attended East Haven Church of God. He was a graduate of the Forest High School Class of 1955 and a retired machine tender at International Paper Company with over 39 years of service. Charles enjoyed gardening, playing guitar and selling furniture. He turned this last hobby into a buisness, Wilson's New and Used Furniture. He loved his family especially the time spent with his great-granddaughter Gracie Rawls.

Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy McKey Wilson of Bastrop; two daughters, Sue Wilson Eades and husband Jerry of Bastrop and Donna Wilson of Crossett, Ark.; a son, Charlie Wilson of Bastrop; three granddaughters, Stephanie Eades Rawls and husband Jody, Chelsea Eades and Natalie Green; two great-grandchildren, Gracie Rawls and Mason Rawls; and a sister, Ruth Yelverton of Oak Grove.

Serving as pallbearers are Clifton Rogers, Larry Whitehead, Mike Scroggins, Bobby Williams, Bruce Brodnax and Joe Brodnax.
