Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Ezra Parker Jr. will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Bro. John Peters and Jeremy Myrick officiating. Interment with military honors will be at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
Charlie Ezra Parker was born February 5, 1943 in Pine Bluff, Ark. He was the only child of the late Charlie Ezra Parker Sr. and Nadine Moore Parker. Mr. Charlie passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2014 at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop.
Mr. Parker was a member of the Hillview Freewill Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army where he served three tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Charlie was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his service. After serving 17 years in the Army, Charlie returned home where he worked as truck driver and as a pipeliner with Harpole Construction. An avid sports fan, Charlie enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emma Alice Parker of Collinston; two children, Charlene Parker Kinison of Natalia, Texas and Jeff Parker and his wife Kim of West Monroe; three grandchildren, Jessica Hang and her husband Hung Hang of Chalmette, Rachel Jones of West Monroe, and Dustin Jones of West Monroe; two great-grandchildren, Emma Wyn-Hang and Ezra Hang, both of Chalmette; an uncle, Jim Moore of Pine Bluff, Ark.; and best friends, Jep Butler Jr., Mark Kinison and Paul Morman.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 28, 2014 between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
