Herman, age 79 and resident of Bastrop, passed from this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was retired from Georgia Pacific Railroad as a customer service agent with 43 years of railroad service. He was a member of Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. He served 50 years in the Southern Baptist as a Deacon, but for health reasons had to give up the honor, as his belief, was that a Deacon was to go and serve. His greatest blessing came from keeping in touch with the elderly and until this day still tried to stay in touch by phone. He served two years in the army as a security sergeant.

Mr. Cox is preceded in death by three brothers, Johnnie, Eugene and Raymond Cox; parents, John and Ada Cox; two sisters, Lucille Cox Riels and Maggie Cox Carter; and mother of his daughter, Vonnie White.

He is survived by one daughter, Veronique Mignon McDonald and husband Richard W. of Bastrop, LA; loving granddaughter, Brittney McDonald Young and husband Nick of Bastrop, LA; special grandson, Brandon McDonald of Bastrop, LA; step-son, Charles Richard LeBrun; two sisters, Ola Mae Hodge of Spencer, LA, Barbara Cox and husband Barney of Gonzales, LA; two brothers, Donald K. Cox and wife Hazel of Bastrop, LA, Lawrence Cox of Bonita, LA; two sisters-in-law, Monnie Faye Cox and Vera Cox both of Bastrop, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Serving as pallbearers are nephews, Johnnie Lane Cox, Larry "Bubba" Cox, Ronnie Cox, Benji Carter, Mark Cox, and Rusty Cox.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Adult III Sunday School Class at Cherry Ridge Baptist Church and Dr. Jack Noble.

Special thanks to Premier Hospice and Golden Funeral Home employees.

Per Mr. Cox's request memorials should be made to the Cherry Ridge Baptist Church building fund at 1005 Cherry Ridge Rd. Bastrop, LA 71220.
