Funeral services for I.W. Vail, 87, of Pine Bluff, Ark. will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at East Side Baptist Church in Pine Bluff with the Rev. Clyde Jones and the Rev. Ray Edmonson officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 5 at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Home.

I. W. Vail was born December 23, 1923, in Black Oak, Ark., to Harvey D. "Doc" and Susie Lee Martin Vail. He died Sunday, January 2, 2011, at BJC Medical Center in Commerce, Ga.
Mr. Vail attended school in Bonita. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had worked for 25 years with International Paper Company, before retiring in 1985 as a welder in the maintenance department. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church in Pine Bluff and the Quapaw Lodge No. 732.
Mr. Vail was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Louise Townsend Vail, whom he married on August 29, 1947, in Bastrop; his parents and a brother, Wesley Leon Vail.
Survivors include a son, Richard D. "Dickie" Vail (Leslie) of Maysville, Ga.; daughters, Brenda Menotti (David) of Pine Bluff, Linda Macheras (Dean) of Monroe; sisters, Dorothy Lee Dumas of Bastrop, Minnie Lodatto of Shreveport; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
